Subcorneal pustular dermatosis

Synonym:

Sneddon-Wilkinson disease

Subcorneal pustular dermatosis is a chronic relapsing dermatosis consisting of crops of flaccid pustules that rupture easily, leaving a crust.
Lesions tend to occur in groups, sometimes in a gyrate pattern.
Histologically, there is a subcorneal bulla containing neutrophils.
The eruption tends to favor flexural surfaces. The eruption may be asymptomatic, but is more often pruritic.

Treatment:

  • The condition remits spontaneously, often after many years.
  • Dapsone 50 to 150 mg po daily is usually effective therapy.
