Poststeroid telangiectasia

The chronic use of topical steroids can induce telangiectasia formation, particularly when potent steroids are used on the face.
Epidermal and dermal atrophy are noted in association.

Treatment:

  • The telangiectasia slowly clear following a cessation of the topical steroid. Such clearing may be incomplete.
  • Rarely should a glucocorticoid stronger than 1% hydrocortisone be used for a facial dermatitis.
