Hydroa vacciniforme

Hydroa vacciniforme is an uncommon photosensitive disorder, manifested in childhood as symmetrical painful erythematous macules, papules, hemorrhagic vesicles, and bullae occurring on sun-exposed skin.
Umbilication and crusting occur and lesions heal with scarring.
Hydroa vacciniforme can be caused by exposure to UVA or UVB.
The etiology is unknown.

Treatment:

• Sun protection and sun avoidance
• Narrow band UVB

Case reports showing benefits from anti-malarials, beta-carotene, PUVA, azathioprine, cyclosporine, thalidomide
