Freckles
Synonym:
Ephelides
Freckles may develop secondary to solar exposure in genetically programmed individuals.
These flat pale to dark brown lesions show an irregular to frankly dendritic edge.
Although indicating actinic damage, they do not themselves become malignant.
Treatment:
- Prevention with a broad spectrum sunscreen and sun avoidance activity is recommended.
- Freckles tend to fade with age
