Erythrasma
Erythrasma is a superficial infection of the skin, most typically in the skin folds, caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum.
Typically showing a well demarcated brown discoloration with fine superficial scale, it is located in the skin folds, such as the sub mammary skin and groin.
Clinically frequently misdiagnosed as tinea, it is quite distinct when examined under Wood’s light, where it shows an orange red fluorescence.
Treatment:
Case reports show benefit from flucidic acid cream, framycetin, topical clindamycin, Whitfield ointment, oral clarithromycin.
