Erythema elevatum diutinum

Erythema elevatum diutinum is a cutaneous vasculitis manifesting as single or multiple brown-red to purple papules or plaques most typically seen symmetrically on the extensor surfaces.
Bullae, vesicles, and ulceration can occur.
Vasculitis is seen histologically.
The etiology is unknown.

Treatment:

• Topical corticosteroids have been shown to benefit some individuals.
• Sulfonamides, particularly sulfapyridine .5-1.0mg. t.i.d.
• Case report showing benefit from the use of nicotinamide, colchicine, chloroquine

EED in association with HIV has been shown to respond to anti-retrovrial medication
