Disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis
Disseminated superficial actinic porokeratosis (DSAP) is an acquired condition occurring in sun exposed skin.
Lesions are similar to those seen in porokeratosis of Mibelli, with a flat, central cleared area, surrounded by a raised edge, surmounted by a furrow. The raised active edge spreads peripherally. DSAP lesions are usually multiple, and evidence of significant actinic damage to the surrounding skin is usually present.
Treatment:
- These lesions are difficult to treat and respond variable to treatment.
- Reports of success with 5% 5-fluorouracil cream, liquid nitrogen cryotherapy and topical retinoids exist, but results are often suboptimal.
- Sun blocks should be used to prevent further damage.
