Acrokeratosis verruciformis

Acrokeratosis verruciformis of Hopf is an autosomal dominant trait usually manifested in early childhood as skin colored warty papules on the dorsum of the hands and feet, on the forearms and on the elbows and knees. Palms may show punctate or diffuse keratoderma. The nails are often white and thickened.

Clinically the disease can resemble Darier's disease, although the histology is quite distinct.

Treatment:

• There is no effective treatment.
• Patients should be followed closely, as squamous carcinoma has been reported in some skin lesions.
